Resizing images already in library

I have a client uploading massive images who wants them to be in a gallery. The gallery will resize the thumb but won't the opened image. I would like to know if there is a way to resize images within the library.

Thanks.

I was going to say - it's easy - just use the edit option in the file manager...

This seems to be fine for image that aren't overly large (which they will be in your case), but when I tried this with an image measuring (2800 x 2100 pixels) the edit & save function didn't work.

I produced a series of images at different sizes and was only able to crop and save the image once it was reduced as small as 1500 x 1125px prior to uploading.

This might just be a limitation of my install parameters but maybe not.

In case you still need help I will attach screen shots of the cropping option on the 1500px image

I clicked on the image, chose edit, scrolled to the bottom right of the image, rescaled using the marquee, then saved.

One of my clients did the same (with the same results).
If I remember correctly, the free add-on PicMonkey http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/-/view/?submit_search=1... will resize them for you from the dashboard

Good to know - I will try that.

I have just been testing an addon by Johnny that would suit my clients in one situation where other users can upload files and have them processed ready to go.

This works really nicely from my initial tests and helps prevent large files building up in the backend and causing havoc at some later date when the hosting account bloats out of control!

Yes - picmonkey works very smoothly and has heaps of nice features. great if you are the site admin and ant to tweak images insitu.

In my case, I would like to put more onus on the image submitter so that images are scaled and ready to manage before the site admin has to touch them. I think the image file uploader does this wonderfully.

+1 on the front end uploader! Recently bought a copy myself... will likely buy more :) (nice add-on!)
Pic Monkey worked for me once the images were already uploaded and it looked like drama to source the originals (or to download - edit - re_upload).
