Search function not returning images

I've added a search block to the header of a photography site and added tags to an image I want searchable just to test the search function but I'm getting no where.

The image is named swan.jpg and the tags are bird, birds, swan, swans

Any help would be appreciated

Is the Block Area name included in your Search Index?
System & Settings/SEO & Statistics/Search Index.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I never knew about the search index, I read all the documentation and it was never mentioned at all, so thanks for that.

I take it that I just select gallery images from the list under the heading ' Blacklist every area but the selected areas are indexed' section.


Actually just tried this and no image results appear at all;
