Site has been down for over 24 hours and won't come back up

Hi there, I am fairly new with C5, and while adding a page yesterday afternoon, the site went down. I've asked my C5 developers to help troubleshoot, but we are all coming up lost. The php is 5.6.4. It looks like it's capping out on resources and memory on the shared server the site is on. The php pages load, but no site pages will load. I can log in, but as soon as I click on a page, the site goes down and throws an error message:

Service Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The hosting company just says it's a C5 problem, but the CPU usage will spike to 97%. Not sure what to do or how to troubleshoot this one? Site is still down, won't load live site at all, just get the same error message as above. Any thoughts?

They also have an intranet on the same server, and they had to reboot it as it was also down, but it came back up. The host says that the other sites on that server seem to be working fine, and it's a C5 thing.
Thanks, Lori

What version of C5 r u using?
Error could be a server issue, PHP version (5.6.4 seems a bit outdated), your theme, an add-on or a script issue. If it is caused by bad code on your website, then it will keep occurring until you find and disable the code that’s causing it. Try deactivating add-ons and/or switch theme.
Also check that the server settings are right.

Thanks Steevb, yes, it’s old php, it’s on a shared server and I’m just taking over things. Looking into your questions and suggestions. Thanks for your reply. Still troubleshooting. :(
