Would be better to have a flash slideshow component, for which you can select the photos/flash from the file manager to display.

Good idea. Does this exist or would I need to create it?

Haven't seen it yet. I'm not a programmer, but the more I think about it, it wouldn't really be that difficult...

There are more then enough flash slideshows, most of them have a xml input. Just create a block in which you can control these variables. With some small modifications between blocks, lots of flash files could be managed by concrete I guess.

Next step could be having a sort of block from which you can select different kinda flash files(templates) then give this selected flash file the input variables.

So you would have one block with many slideshow options, now that would be great!

got any free decent looking MIT licensed slideshows in mind?

I have a license to slideshowpro, so I am going to write one for that. Any other suggestions would be ok.

Thanks.

Must say that I started to pay more and more for these things instead of spending a day of searching for a free version. Bit more economic.

But just found these two in my bookmarks,http://www.xmlphotoalbum.com/

Simpleviewer would be a very nice flash gallery to work with C5.
There is also an admin(svmanager) for this specific gallery, maybe it's useful to have a look at it??

Maybe the guys at airtight a willing to cooperate on this and supply you with a free version of SVmanager.

Same as Ducthwave I'm not a programmer but i'm sure it would be a great addition to C5
