Upgraded to 5.6.0.2 now "invalid file" when downloading files

Started at 5.4.2.2 and then upgraded to 5.6.0.2. Everything seems to be working fine. Uploaded a pdf file through the file manager and added a link to it. When you click on the link it says that it is an invalid file. Tried linking to an image, same thing. If you are in the editor these links work fine. Permissions in the file directory are 777.

There is a download_file single page in my sitemap that seems to have all the correct permissions. We have tried re-adding this page...nothing seems to work.

Our current workaround is to upload the file and link to it with the exact pathname, but we would like our customer to be able to upload files through the file manager. (We have another site that we upgraded and discovered we have the same issue with it as well) Any ideas?

Not sure what might be wrong but the C5 team recommends to upgrading 5.4.2.2 to 5.5.0 then upgrade to 5.6.0.

I have found this to be true in most cases, in others, I find I might have to upgrade from one release to the next, update all add-ons then step-up to the next version until I get to the version I need to be at.

If you have a back-up of your database when your site was on version 5.4.2.2 I recommend replacing your 5.6.0 database and downgrading, then try the recommended upgrade process.

Not sure how to fix your current problem if downgrading isn't an option.

We did take baby steps when upgrading. We performed the following upgrades:

5.4.2.2 to 5.5.0
5.5.0 to 5.5.2.1
5.5.2.1 to 5.6.0.2

Everything else seems to be working fine. Unfortunately I didn't test everything out so I can't say for sure which upgrade broke the download.

Resolved. Seems to be a permissions issue. Set the permissions discussed in the link below and all is working fine now.
