Urgent: Unable to update anything

I have attempted to update all the blocks from the marketplace as well as updating concrete itself and keep getting the message:
"The following errors occurred when attempting to process your request:
1" and "
The following errors occurred when attempting to process your request:
An error occurred while downloading the package." I dont know what is going on and this is important as now the 2 blocks I needed to update are now missing.

I think it may be incompatability with blogga and image gallery plugins but I can't even update concrete, I think an installing operation may be corrupt or something
