What's current best-practice for a recurring paid subscription model?

Hi, there,

I'm porting more of my products and services to a paid-subscription model as opposed to the download-product model, and I'm coming to C5 from some failed attempts at Drupal or other CMS's too inflexible to mention.

Is there a personal best-practice for recurring paid subscriptions that someone could recommend?

Thanks very much.

There are 2 that I can refer to you right now:

1. Lerteco Membership Commerce

2. Simple Subscriptions

the quick answer is "none"

there is no working add-on that supports a recurring paid subcription

there used to be 2 add-ons 1 of them was taken down the second simple scriptions hasnt worked in years but for some reason is still up and able for purchase

Lerteco membership is the closest but dosent handel auto recurring payments instead when the time is up it asks the user if they want to continue I blieve

... with that said I have recurring paid subscription with my site but it is set manually by an admin

using the paypal button I put some simple user input so when a logged in user is sent to paypal it also includes there log in name and email after it is approved an admin simply adds them

you would probally want to put a jobs request if its a big deal for it to be automated

Thanks to both of you.

Any more thoughts to this from anyone?

I'm thinking of using FoxyCart, as it has the ability to handle subscription payments, and I know (though I'm no programmer), that it can send codes to inform of a subscription start or stop.

Is this something that anyone knows is possible to have sent to C5 in a membership-type format and have it automatically add the person?

I'm sure I can hook up with someone from Fiverr just to send these codes over and check...

But if there's a better option, I'd like to know.

And I'm not as concerned with it being automated as much as allowing them access as soon as they pay.

It seems part of the expectation with access-based things, that they should be able to get access as soon as they pay, and I'm not wanting to have to do it manually if I don't have to.

HOWEVER, since C5 is pretty much what I want to base my system on, it's fine with me however it works best.

Thanks for any further thoughts or ideas.

You might want to try my add-on:

Purely for Paypal, but I think it's great in simplicity ;-)
