What's up with "Marked for Deletion", deleting external links and custom attributes?

A client I work with figured out that they can assign custom attributes to external links using the page search and simultaneously became unable to delete external links.

When I attempt to delete an external page link using a client's account (non-super admin) using the site map context menu i'm getting a dialog that reads:

"This page has been marked for deletion.

You marked this page for deletion on 4/26/2012 at 9:53 AM"

This is happening for external links created under client's account as well as links created using the super admin.

When I attempt to drag the external links into the trash using the client account I get a dialog with the error:

"You cannot view the source page(s)." - see attached screenshot

When I try to delete these external links using the site map context menu as the super-admin I get a dialog that just reads:

"This page has been marked for deletion." - screenshot attached

I can delete these external links at the super-admin by dragging them into the trash.

The client account does not have the "Admin" privilege for any of the actual pages on the site.

I've also experienced this.
Attributes are designed to go on External Links, so some logic is breaking somewhere.

Anyone found a solution to this. I created an external link under my Home page, but now I want to remove it. I can't seem to find any way to access an external link to edit or remove it.

Thanks
