video tutorials on Concrete5 Permissions

Here are some video tutorials on C5's Permission System which allows you todetermine who sees/does what, where.

I noticed that people have had a lot of questions about Permissions in the past so I thought I'd put some tutorials together.

I'm not a member of the C5 team, just a user, so feel free to add advice and corrections.

Simple/Regular Permissions - Part 1

Advanced Permissions - Part 2

Advanced Permissions Continued - Part 3

You should be able to full screen since I zoom in often.

Notes and Errata:

Part 1:

-When I mention the config file I really mean the site.php under the config directory.

-Be really careful whom you give access to the System Pages.

Part2:

-For Timed Release pages you probably want to give the Group/User Permissions to always Read the actual page and then make it only visible for a certain period of time in the Time Release.

-I recommend define users as Roles instead of using the actual users name. If they leave all you need to do is change the email and password and someone else can take over without need to reactive the users permissions or keep the same name.

-Some addon's like the Calendar and Ecommerce create their own page types.Be sure to add these to addable Page Types for Groups/Users in the Subpages section.

-If a User/Group can't read the page they won't see its link either.

Part 3:

-The "cascading effect" of inheritance of parent (page above) won't effect a page that has previously been changed to Manual. At that point it's "independent".

Someone pointed out that the videos on utipu are down. I'd uploaded most of them on my companies streaming server so here's another working link:
