8.3.1. to 8.4.2. glitch

I tried to do a manual update, had a folder called concrete5.8.4.2 and it contained just a concrete folder as the manual update instructions pointed out. There is also a concrete5.8.2.1_remote_updater folder and a concrete5-8.3.1 folder was well. The website was at Version 8.3.1. When I went to update, it said new version available, 8.4.2 available. I clicked update, and when it was done, it says "Update to 8.3.1 completed". So I am super confused.

And when I tried renaming the 8.4.2. folder, the website broke, so I think its pointing to this update folder for its core.

How do I install this properly so that it is truly on version 8.4.2?

To help figure out what went wrong, can you:

* provide a link to the directions you followed
* verify that you have a backup of the database before you made any changes
* rename the folder you change back to the original name before your site broke
* describe what's not working after you rename the folder back to the original name

Sorry for the late response.

I followed the directions in the paragraph entitled “Manual Dashboard update”.
I do have a backup of the database, on file with both structure and data in it, and 2 separate files of Structure and then data.
The thing is, the site is not broken, its running. It just says I am on 8.3.1. but using an 8.4.2. directory. So I think the upgrade happened, I think the label is wrong. Should say 8.4.2.

Thanks for the extra information.

Try clearing the cache to see if that updates the reported values.

Also, check the error logs to ensure that the update actually completed without error.

I cleared the cache in both browser and concrete. The environment information still says 8.3.1. What is interesting is that the website works with PHP 7.2.6. (which was the main goal), which it couldn't do before. I am guessing it upgraded, just has the wrong label.

I am sorry, I don't know how to check the error logs, I tried looking around for it.
