A record only web hosting

I am hosting my clients Concrete5 website with my hosting company Arvixe. However the client needs for the MX record of the domain to remain pointed at their mail server. The domain name is with GoDaddy and so I have reset the A record to point to my Arvixe hosting account. Unfortunately the domain name is not resolving to the C5 installation page. Instead it resolves to this Arvixe holding page:

http://stats.pen.mysitehosted.com/...

I can see from the temporary IP address for the site that it has installed correctly on the server and is displaying the C5 configuration page.

Is it enough for a C5 site to have just the A record pointed toward its hosting account or does it need the full DNS for some reason?

No problem having a site with no MX records on the hosting account, I have a couple myself that work fine.

My guess on this (only a guess) is that there is a problem in the way the A records have been redirected to your hosting account.

I am assuming that for the records you have entered in the correct nameserver details for your hoster?
e.g. ns0.whoever.net and ns1.whoever.net

If this is all ok your hoster may have some sort of safe dns feature which means you need to add the domain name to a list that they have to make sure it is ok to point at the server, you would need to speak to your hoster about that.

Your domain also looks like a subdomain so you may want to check that the C5 install is actually in the sub domain and not in the main domain.

Not sure if any of that will help but you never know.

You were right. It was just a problem with the A record. It's working now. Thanks!
