by renaming index.php to index2.php you're going to cause some serious problems.

I think it might be a better approach to make your intro page the home page, and have your whole site be one level down... So power the whole thing with c5.

Can you explain how

your c5 site is a tree.
Make the first level your splash page.

define a new page type, call it "empty" or something like that and just make it a white page with a editable area in the middle.

add the animation you have to that page.

add a child page under it called "home"
use the default page type for that which includes navigation space.

make the rest of the pages you want under home.

now just link the animation on your home page to the url of your site's actual home page.

Franz explained it step by step?!

Try it and if you have another problem ask, but there isn't anything else to explain...

Is there a way without using a page type?

I would prefer that because this page type would be used for just one page! But whenever the users adds a new page, there's this page type available..

Can I change the first page to a "single page"?

The top level page in the site currently can't be a single page - which I agree, is too bad, because for many sites the "home page" is exactly that, a single page.

I'll think a little more about how this might work.

thanks! I'm glad you share my opinion about that!

It might be easy to look for a single page called "home page"? If it's there, show it, otherwise use the default page type as it works now...

This might need an explanation but it would work and I guess easy to implement too?

If you just want a steady page, create a index.html in your site root.

On most server environments the index.html proceeds index.php.

I'm going to create a website with a static page. I'm going to call it index.html, It will have high end graphics, flash animation and an enter button (maybe) or just a script to load after 10 seconds or on click which ever comes fist. the client doesn't need to modify the splash page. They just need access to index.php and beyond. I don't see a better way to do this without major surgery.

One minor issue and you switch to "wodpress"?

I've used it and sorry, but even that won't read your mind, develope itself and clean your kitchen. Guarantee you'd be better off with Concrete and take a little time to work with it.

Prolly should have just left this alone, sorry to the site minders if out of line on this one.

I found this thread from a while back and I'd like to do this exact thing with my website - create a sort of landing page with some animation that users click on to enter the actual site. I read the earlier posts and specifically the step by step from Franz and the question I have is when I'm setting up this page to "house" my existing Home and child pages - where am I creating this? In Concrete5 somewhere or in my FTP program files? I'm pretty new with this but would love to work on getting this set up correctly.

If it helps, I'm using a theme called Column Cruiser for my site. Thanks.

If you already have your site all done how can I move all the pages beneath the new splash page? Tried moving Home below the new splash page and C5 doesn't let you do that. Thanks in advance. Perhaps a Splash Page addon would be good for this functionality. Specially for sites that require consent to a user policy.

Sorry about posting a little off-topic but... I've removed "splash pages" from a couple of sites because of the crazy bounce rate they were showing on Google Analytics (bounce rate decreased notably when a true "Home" page was reached first). Has anyone else noticed that, or am I missing something basic here?
