C5 Scaling

Hi Everyone,
I am thinking about using C5 for a high availability / high traffic / performance critical website....
Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions around how best to configure C5 for this?
Vertical slices? I presume that I could have as many installs of C5 as I can muster, over as many servers as I can find and use a central high availability instance of mySQL and switch on session persistence in my load-balancer?
Anyone with experience of this would be great to chat!
