To Get the add on working, just first download the package to your desktop.

1. Extract the package

2. Open FTP and connect to your site and go to the "blocks" directory

3. browse to your desktop and look inside the extracted package for the "premium_goole_map" folder.

4. Select the folder and and upload it to the "blocks" directory

5. Go to your site, login and go to dashboard. In the side menu go to "Add Functionality"

6. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see the new add-on - click it to install and we're done ;)

When adding in the map a good resource to get the long/lat ishttp://www.gorissen.info/Pierre/maps/googleMapLocation.php...

Hi,

Downloaded the "AddThis" block from the C5 site to add to the test install I have. Unzipped and copied the "AddThis" directory to the /concrete/blocks directory. However, it doesn't appear in the Dashboard "Add Functionality" "Available Block Types". What am I doing wrong?

Just try the folder /blocks/ instead of /concrete/blocks/

Good luck

That did it thanks. Just not very intuitive if I wanted to add the block to the "concrete" site then why does the system not show the block with the rest that are in the in the concrete/blocks directory. I'll be looking around now to see what the minimum install is, as I now want to move onto create a site of my own. Will start a separate thread if I can't find the info.

Cheers,

Craig

because your site is going to end up with its own blocks and themes that we dont want to worry about when upgrading, they live in a separate spot in the directory structure. I agree it's annoyingly confusing at first, but there's good thinking behind it. ;)

I had a little trouble installing the addons but the solution was a simple find and replace in the files.

My server(s) all have the recommended php settings and as the php.ini comments suggest devs should follow the recommendations.

As per php.ini comments
[code]; Allow the <? tag. Otherwise, only <?php and <script> tags are recognized.
; NOTE: Using short tags should be avoided when developing applications or
; libraries that are meant for redistribution, or deployment on PHP
; servers which are not under your control, because short tags may not
; be supported on the target server. For portable, redistributable code,
; be sure not to use short tags.
short_open_tag = Off,[code]

I'm using a concrete5 hosted site and I'm trying to install the flikr block but I can't seem to find the right blocks directory to put it in - it never shows up in the dashboard to be installed.

Can you tell me which blocks directory this should be in?

Thanks

siteroot is your web/ folder or where the root of your directory is: ie where index.php sits on the well root of your directory.

You want to upload your blocks in siteroot/blocks/

example: my site is gravytrain.com

i would upload my delicious blocks to:

gravytrain.com/blocks/

not

gravytrain.com/concrete/blocks/

I know it is a little odd to think of a cms that doesn't require modifying of core files, but this is in fact the right way to go and perhaps you have already seen the light :)
