Cache folders named "!" and "%"

I have two folders in the cache ( /files/cache/pages/! and /files/cache/pages/% ) that I cannot change the permissions on.

If I delete them will it break my site?

I assume they were made during installation but I've never seen folders with symbol names before. The server will not let me change the names and Concrete 5 won't let me turn on caching while they are there.

If I delete them I won't be able to make new folders with those names.

i had this once...don't remember what eventually solved it but here are a few leads:
i think i just deleted them with FileZilla

but you also might wanna try one or a combination of these:
put them in single quotes: '!'
chown them first
rename, then delete

I just renamed the cache/pages folder and created a new cache/pages folder - Never could get them deleted.

I am able to cache the site now. That was the problem it the error whenever i tried to turn caching on.
