Can Someone point me to a good How-To to get started?

I just downloaded version 5.7. It doesn't install or anything. Now What?

Does someone have a How-To to create a single page with the phrase "Hello World'.

I need something to get me from nothing to successfully putting up a single page.

I have been using WebEasy wiswig. But there is no support to fix bugs in WebEasy software.

As I am a designer, not a programmer or developer, I can only point you in this direction:

https://www.concrete5.org/documentation/developers/5.7/installation...

I followed these directions and it installed no problem.
You will need access to your webhosting account to create a database, database user name and password, and an ftp user and password. You have to know how to change permissions on files and folders via the webhosting interface (like cpanel or parallels plesk) or ftp.

If this is greek to you, then you should hire someone to do it, or your hosting company may provide the service.

Otherwise, i believe you can host a site through Concrete5 - you'll have to read through the website. It isn't simply plug & play.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

In all the documentation around about concrete5, nothing is said about it being a cloud web editor. Things would have been so much easier to understand.

It's not a 'cloud web editor', but it is a web-based CMS. Can you elaborate a bit more on the problems you are having installing it?

Well, was trying to install a program on my desktop computer only to find out now that things run from the website. A little different concept than I'm used to. Didn't clue in to this approach from all the stuff I read on it.

I only realized what was going on after finding a step by step 'famous 5-min install' procedure.

Looking forward to trying this install.
