Can't update add-ons - error message

I just migrated an existing CC5 site to a new server and tested it - all was fine. Then updated CC5 to the latest version via the Dashboard successfully. However, when I try to update the add-ons (any of them) I get the message "An error occurred while downloading the package".

Any ideas what is causing this?

An additional note - I have taken over this site from someone who is not cooperating, so I don't have access to the original marketplace receipts for these add-ons, whether they were free or purchased. The old site does allow me to update the add-ons, the site on the new server is not allowing updates and there is nothing in the logs related to this. I wonder if this has something to do with connection to the marketplace or its receipts.

Turn on the debug settings in the dashboard, that should allow you to get a useful error message.

Thanks for the idea but Debug is already on and I've just rechecked all the settings for it.

Make sure the packages directory is writeable

Its 755 like the others. I don't know the mechanics of the connection to the marketplace but my test site does not yet have the original domain name, so I wonder if there is a token that carries both the domain name and the marketplace key that is passed between the site and the marketplace backend.

Update: It now displays the message 'The base URL of your site does not match a registered instance of the site. Please click below to authenticate your site again' so I was correct on that point. I updated the packages on the old site and migrated successfully to the new site. So I might wait until I migrate the domain name and try again.
