Error Messages and Backing Up Site

Hello I hope someone can help me, I have purchased a new plan with web hub host and I am going to migrate my domain and site over to it from Host Monster (currently hosted on a friends server). The first thing it tells me to do is back up my site. I have been trying to back up and upgrade to the current version of C5 but I get the following error message while backing up.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 33225065 bytes) in /home6/joshunga/public_html/cosmicviveslive/updates/concrete5.5.2.1/concrete/libraries/backup.php on line 19

So I haven't been able to back up my site for quite some time. My questions are these. Is this a C5 issue or a server issue? Can I migrate my site to the new host without the backup? If so how? and if not how can I fix the problem so that I can back it up and move on.

The site is

Backing up (especially larger sites) can be a real pain :(
I really recommend you look at Johnthe Fish's Back-up voodoo http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/backup-voodoo/...
It has been invaluable to me for moving a site as it can be easily customized to handle virtually any size installation.
Hope this helps

Rather than using the Concrete5 backup process, which is causing your host to give you out of memory issues, try doing this:

Login to the dashboard, turn off and clear the cache
Login to your phpMyAdmin, export the entire database to a file, save it to your computer.
Copy your files from your current host via FTP to your computer

Import your database file to the new host using the same database settings (if you are unable to use the same database settings i.e. username, database name, etc you will need to update the /config/site.php with the new information)
Upload your files to the new host via FTP

Check to make sure that everything is working correctly, if it is turn the cache back on (if it was on in the first place).
