Try auto in the first instance.

Ok, thank you.

Unfortunatelly there are some files called send_cache or similar, which show an error when i try to download it: no matter if i use binary, automatic, or ascii. There are also some empty .php-files. Over all about 96 files with error-report from filezilla.

If you don't have any files with CR+LF line endings, you can just zip the whole lot together, ftp the zip, then extract it on your server via CPanel File Manager or something.

If you work a lot with packages, an alternate solution to FTP are my Package Magic addons.

Package Magic Starter enables a package zip to be uploaded and installed or updated directly from the dashboard. No FTP required. As packages uploaded may not be from the marketplace, it incorporates a bunch of checks to help prevent faulty packages from breaking your site.

The full version of Package Magic provides many more facilities for package developers. As well as greatly extending the upload/check/install capabilities of Starter, it provides dashboard control to zip up and save packages and many utilities for helping you build well formed packages.
