Getting Started

I am new to web design...or more truthfully I am a simple minded person who had someone develop a website for me in Dreamweaver. My host name is IXwebhosting. I want to transfer that website to Concrete5 so I have editing ability. I have two questions:

Do I need to either hire someone to transfer for me or be a web designer myself to do this?

And

Once it's transferred, can someone like me make the simple changes I need to without knowing about all the codes and stuff.

Hi,

Yes definitely, once setup, you can define your c5 website design/layout in later stages.

For 1st question, yes it's best to hire someone to convert your existing site to c5. Price depends on how detail the conversion would be, ie need specific handling, need specific add-ons etc.

2nd. Yes you will be able to edit or touch-up your own site using c5. (Note the requirements to you designer) The Page edit mode and the Design Tools features is very useful. Add contents and customize individual or all pages quite simple though.

Convert your site on a local environment setup (PC) and once preliminary works done, transfer sites and data with great add-ons from c5 easily. Then add more contents and pages required.

Some the web hosts has pre-installed scripts for instant c5 install, it's good to ask them though in detail.

Hope it helps.

Do you transfer sites? I don't need any add-ons at this point.

Do you transfer sites? If so, how much do you charge? If not, can you recommend someone?

Hi,

A lot of people here can do conversion to C5 myself included (shameless plug)but you would have better luck finding someone by posting something on the jobs forum because that's really were most developer would look.

Also if you posted a link to your website that would help understand the scope of the work and make you better offers.

Good luck
