HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Help!

I was trying to upgrade to the newest version of Concrete 5 and within 2 seconds of me pressing the upgrade button the whole site crashed and all I am now left with is this message:

HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Well - I do not have a server so it cannot be me! I am new to all this and not technically gifted - and very upset at the moment as my website means an awful lot to me!

Please can someone help me!

Many many thanks!

I get an 500 internal server error when I put an error in the .htaccess file. Perhaps the new version has edited this file?

I'm her brother + the guy who set her up with Concrete5 because I love the functionality....

The .htaccess file was actually missing from the site? Uploaded one from another Concrete5 site (= I know it works), but to no avail? :-/

In the "config" directory is "site.php". Open this in a text editor (e.g. notepad) and delete the following
<?php define('DIRNAME_APP_UPDATED', 'concrete5.x.x.x');?>

Where x.x.x is the version number you were trying to update to.

That should get you back to your old working version.

Is it a bug?

An unexpected error occurred.

Hi again!
I have tried to do what you say in the site.php file with no luck.
Have also tried going into the config file in the concrete folder and changing the version.php file...
Is there any other advice you could give me?
thanks!

In that file the concrete version is the one I was on so looks like it never tried to update.

Is there any chance I can give my password details to someone and you could have a look?

Thx!
