Http/FTP Upload | manual insert into DB

Is it possible to upload files into the CMS threw ftp instead of normal http post protocol. I'm having troubles with some file extentions and file sizes. I have no access to php.ini and i also tried to override it with the .htaccess file. But all i got is a page 500 error.
Now i'm uploading the files to the server using ftp. But the CMS is using the DB for storing some basic information. Is it possible to automatically/manually put the files into the database? I already found the correct table, but i'm not sure how it al i put together. I still do not know where the URL is pointed to, if type = file extention, what the names are of the generictype and where bID is coming from or pointed to. Can someone help me out with this issue or if there is already a script for this? Thank you very much for any responses and/or resolutions.

i think the beta will retain the ability to process a file/child folder, in this case "files/incoming" where if you can get a file there, the CMS will process and nurture as one of its own.

Is the Beta online for testing/downloading? Because this would be great. Do you know if the subfolders are included automatically or do you have to put the files into the file/child folder's root?

I poke around a few builds per day as time permits, it definitely isn't something I would deploy a "build" to a client as is since it isn't a point release.

There aren't sub-folders, the files are tagged by meta attributes like tags or anything you wish to apply to a file, it is really very awesome and genius and I wish i was in on the core code :) Seems like a great place to make a difference.

Folders exist, but they are last I checked like a version repository, or appeared to be, I didn't dig into the dynamics because I believe if an object works as intended I don't need to dig into how it works, unless it stops working :)

The actual psuedo folders/sets/collections in the sense of the asset manager are simply sets or tagged files and things of that nature. Physical folders are too constricting and really useless.

I mean everyone likes to hate on microsoft, but look at the newest home server, it has no concept of drives :) Nice.

Again I don't want to get into it too much because stuff changes all the time, and I didn't want you to roll with a beta because there really isn't a point, you can't deploy anything but a release anyways.

I hope this helps, sit tight and work on your templates and things like that, 5.3 will be off the chain.

there is an ability to do this in 5.3, but not in 5.2

5.3 is in beta testing and is due out this month.
