I also use Inmotion Hosting, but I never have this problem.

What hosting plan are you on? If you're using a personal or very basic plan, you may want to consider upgrading, as there will be more resources on the server, which could speed up your site.

I am using their Business Class Pro hosting plan.

We're on the VPS 2,000. It's been great for a long time and we're not doing anything different. We did an upgrade in Fall and we started to have issues. I did the update to the latest version yesterday and now it's really bad.

I've seen that error before from time to time and I believe it has to do with the version of PHP your hosting environment is running and the options that are set in it. Can you post your full environment info from Dashboard > System & Settings > Environment > Environment Information?
