Install error, unwritable directories

Did something go bad in the upload of my files? I uploaded the C5 install and went to my site's url and got this after entering all the db, other information. Almost sounds like a security issue.

* Your configuration directory web/config/ does not appear to be writable by the web server.
* Your files directory /files does not appear to be writable by the web server.
* Your files directory /files/thumbnails does not appear to be writable by the web server.
* Your files directory /files/onstates does not appear to be writable by the web server.
* Your files directory files/trash does not appear to be writable by the web server.
* Your files directory files/cache does not appear to be writable by the web server.
* Your files directory files/avatars does not appear to be writable by the web server.

permissions usually get lost when you upload files..

I think nothing went wrong, just chmod your directories

I'm not sure what went wrong. Since 5.1 has come out since I did an installation for my last site, I decided to delete the 5.0 files and install that instead. Using the ftp client built into godaddy is real slow (about an hour to upload C5). that's kinda' sad considered I'm on a T3. I used filezilla this time and it uploaded the files in less than 10 minutes. My install is working fine now.

In the test site's I've got going on godaddy shared hosting, I've found it's almost unusable to upload single files - so I upload an archive instead and then use their "unarchive" command to expand the .zip file..

Good day
I get the following error?
The config/, packages/ and files/ directories must be writable by your web server.
I did check they are all 755

How do I fix this error?
Thanks
