Installing Add-ons

I have purchased an add-on and it tells me to unzip file in packages/ directory. OK, I know I am a newbie, but I can't find this directory to copy add-on files to it. Help?

Add to top level 'packages' folder (directory)

Maybe: public_html/packages

Are you running locally or on a live site?

Well, not sure how to answer that. Since we have a guy who normally does (or at least did) all the 'background' stuff, maybe we are just running locally. I do get into C5 to maintain website with one p/w, and I have the admin p/w for full access.

You need access to your server, not C5.

If you connect your site to the C5 community, you could then purchase add-ons and install from the dashboard.

Whats the web address, URL?

What is your domain name?

bob.com, nike.com, tesco.co.uk?

Okay, so looks after your web server?

Have you connected your site to the C5 community?

Guy by the name of Brian Kane, but he is taking a hiatus to do other things.

I THOUGHT I connected to community at one time, at least.

Okay, log in to the site, hover over 'Dashboard', at the click 'Extend concrete5'. You will see all extensions in the list. At the bottom you will see if you are connected or not.

But saying that if you purchased outside of 'the community' you will have problems.

You need access to your server so can upload via ftp the 'zipped' add-on into the 'packages folder.

says the following:
Your site is currently connected to the concrete5 community. Your project page URL is:

So did you not purchase through the dashboard?

No, don't think so...purchased through C5 website. Didn't know there was a difference.

Okay, as I said before you will probably have to ftp the file to the packages folder.

OK...thank you so much for your help. I will try to contact Brian and have him do that.
Again, thanks!
