Installing theme

I'm new to Concrete5, having installed 5.5.1 two days ago through softoculous with my server. I just purchased a theme but when I tried to download I got this message.

Unable to copy directory theme_elegancia to /home/d556164/public_html/conc/packages. Perhaps permissions are set incorrectly or the target directory does not exist.

I have no coding knowledge so I'm stumped. My URL after installing ended with /conc so I asked my server to set up a redirect to the original domain. Could that have caused the problem? Can anyone help?

The error gives you a couple of places to look:

1) Does the packages folder actually exist? It should be in the root of your concrete5 install. By that I mean the folder where all your files are, should have a folder called packages.

2) Is the packages folder writeable by the web server? Depending on your configuration, you may have to change the "permissions" on the folder to allow the webserver to write to the folder. I don't know what server you're using, so it's difficult to explain how. I'll assume it's a Linux server, in which case you would need to use your file manager, cpanel or FTP client to set the permissions to "drwxrwxrwx" or "777" or make sure that all the "w" options are checked.

Thanks for the quick response.

Ok, the server is Linux and the package file does exist and is empty. In the public_html/conc/config folder, site.php permissions is set to 0777 and site_theme_paths is set to 0644. I'm reluctant to reset anything without specific instruction, lest I make things worse.

seems its your theme then and not the core. you would need to contact whoever designed the theme.

Will do. Anyway it's installed and working fine, but I'll let them know
about the snag.

Thanks again,
