Moving a site in 5.5

Editing the config/site.php file does not work like it did in previous versions. So where is the BASE_URL and DIR_REL information in 5.5?

I'm simply trying to move the installation to a different directory on my server.

Thanks.

5.5 doesn't seem to use BASE_URL and DIR_REL at all any more. No sign of it anywhere in the file system, and adding it has no effect (other than C5 responding "page not found" - but it's C5 making the response.) Didn't find any mention of this in the release notes, so hopefully someone from the core team will toss us a bone.

Thanks for your help. I thought I was going crazy. I even did a second install with a unique string for the directory name just to see if it showed up in a search through all the files with no luck.

I like the new version... just missing a few tweaks.

Can anyone confirm that this above method works. I am in 5.6.1.2 and want to move my site from a subdirectory to root, but want to be sure what I'm doing before I attempt it. Seems the method most referred to involved editing a couple lines in the site.php file, but apparantly those no longer exist.

My biggest gripe with C5 is that there seems to be so much outdated tutorial information on the site. They need to do some housecleaning.

Are you trying to move the site to where your URL points? If so, why not just point the URL to the directory that your C5 site is currently in.

Personally I have never succeed at moving a C5 site.

I'm trying to move this site, which is in a subdirectory to the root. I did it once before with another site, but I don't remember how, and think the process has changed since then:

I move sites from a development sub-directory to the root all the time; basically using these instructions:

http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/developers/how-to-mo...

To move the files, I use my host's Control Panel->File Manager and highlight all the files & folders in the C5 sub-directory and move them to where I want them to go. Perhaps it would be a good idea to get some experience first by moving your site to another sub-directory to see how it all works.

Before you move it to the root, back up your existing site because you will overwrite it when you move the new site to the root.

I have also found that I have better luck if I DON'T move the .htaccess file from the C5 sub-directory. I create a blank .htaccess file in the new location and then let C5 create the proper entries in it when I turn Pretty URLs back on.

Post back if you have any troubles.

That seemed pretty painless. Thanks.
