Password help

I'm trying to log in but it is saying the password is incorrect - strange as I'm copying and pasting from the one which was generated. I've completed a password reset but the email is not coming through to my email address (using the admin email address which I used during setup). Can anyone advise what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks,

Is this a new install or a site that has been running for a while? have you added any content or addons since installing?

Hi, sorry yes it's a new installation and I logged in the first time as part of the setup but tried to log in again about 30 minutes later and could not

I've gone into myphpadmin and I can see that the email is correct in the password reset area but it is still not coming through. Can I just change the password in phpadmin?

Go to your site and use the Forgotten Password utility on the login page.
Go to phpMyAdmin and find the very last entry in the 'Logs' table.
Click the edit button and find the web address that was generated, copy and paste that web address into a new browser window and setup your new password.

For some reason it is giving me a 404 error when I do this

It is very important to use the Forgotten Password function immediately before going to the Logs table because the generated URL is time critical and will 'Time Out' if not used fairly quickly.

If you're trying to recover the password for the superuser or admin user and have access to the files on the server you can also use this tool I developed that make things easy.
