Permissions error while installing

I'm installing C5 version 5.6.1b1 and I'm having issues. It always poops out when it gets to installing the dashboard and I get the following message:

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /hermes/bosweb/web298/b2987/ipw.wrightbrain/public_html/C5/concrete/core/libraries/page_cache/types/file.php on line 30

I set the permissions for EVERYTHING to 755. I can't figure it out.

The funny thing is I was able to install the previous "stable" version without these issues.

Any suggestions? TIA

I've switched all of the permissions to 777. Then the installer won't even load.

Oddly enough I decided to go with an older installation "concrete5.6.0.1". That version installed just fine. Strange. The beta was a bust for me.

if you intend to use this install for anything other than experimenting, you should probably upgrade to 5.6.0.2 as there were issues with 5.6.0.1 that needed urgent fixing.
