permissions

This can be a security risk, so I need to know - 755 do you mean every single file? image files, php files, css, every single file?

And when it says cmod 'files' to 777 there are several dir called files - does this mean every occurrence of dir 'files'?

The permissions section really needs a more detailed rewrite - IMO

I completely agree - a re-wright would help out here, as I have the same questions.

I finally got my host to 'fix' the install permissions as no matter what I changed the pages were still not showing up. But they didn't tell me what files they changed.

If I were you I would start with the dir you have c5 in and index.php open those up to 777 and test it out.
It is strange, other php tools have a permissions list for every file in the install. It's not vague or confusing, just laid out in the documentation.

Good luck

Well, Looks like documentation is still needed.
It's the middle of 2012 and the same issue exists.

How does one go about helping the community?
