Softaculous Auto Installer and 8.5.0 and 8.5.1

Permalink 1 user found helpful
My hosting Company (TMDHosting) uses Softaculous Auto Installer, and they have both been very good to me. When 8.5.0 came out I contacted Softaculous Auto Installer and they said that there was insulation problems with 8.5.0 and they would contact me when the issues where fixed. Now 8.5.1 is out and still the same answer. Can someone answer why they feel there are issues ?

Yes I know I can upgrade manually, but also the auto update feature in Concrete5 itself has never been enabled with 8.5.0 or 8.5.1, this to me confirms what Softaculous Auto Installer tells me.

I was looking forward to using Concrete5 with PHP 7.3.

Willing to wait, but would like to know whats going on?

Thanks in advance.

Now, two months after release and still no auto update in Concrete5 or assistance?

I believe it has something to do with that change in database/tables collation introduced by v8.5.0.

I'm too waiting for the Softaculous to sort things out.

Please leave a post here if and when you have news.

Thanks.

Agreed, and it's not enable in Concrete5 either. So are you saying that they both have the same issue for automatic update?

I really don't know about the C5 update mechanism itself. Is your C5 instance linked to the community (you must be logged in to update from within C5, as far as I remember)
.
But for Softaculous I bet my money on that collation thing.

Yes my websites are logged in to the community, and this was verified, thanks.

It seems that Softaculous finally made the update for 8.5.1 script available.
I didn't try it yet.
