Theme can not be activated / removed

Permalink 3 users found helpful
Hi
I created a new theme from HTML using Andrews Screencast.
It shows up under themes but when I click activate an error occurs (Firefox + Chrome): To many redirects.
I also can not delete the theme using the Themes page.

I can not activate another downloaded theme (Fruitful) either.

I also removed "my" theme from the application/themes/mytheme folder using FTP and from the database. The problem stayed when trying to activate the Fruitful theme.

Any ideas?

[edit1]: Sorry forgot: C5 version 5.7.4.1 [/edit1]

Hi

I did not want to edit again, but I notice, that the problem occurs on other Dashboard pages as well: Trying to add a stack ... approve ... redirect error.

Do you have Pretty URLs turned on? If so, try turning them off and clearing the cache and see if that changes anything, this sounds like an htaccess redirect issue.

Hi

no, Pretty URLs are not active.

But by now I also notice, that I can not even logout! Also this gives me a redirect error.
If I try to enter "...http://blablabla.com/index.php/logout" directly in the address bar (latest firefox), the page (see screenshot) is shown - which in my opinion should not exist: The layout is from the "Element" theme which is NOT active in my site.

Cache is completely off at this time.

Hi

forgot:
there is no htaccess file.

C5 is on a subdomain.

Does this happen when you are logged out also, or only when you are logged in?

Hi

I am logged in. It happens, when I try to log out.
When i open Firefox in private mode it's like I am not logged in. I can log in - when trying to log out it happens again: Redirect error.

Does this happen when you are trying to browse your site on the front end when not logged in, or only when you are trying to perform logged in functions?

Hi
well... I do not know what's going on: Now something on the serverside seems to be down: I am getting a 502 error since hours. I have contacted support, but they did not find the reason immediately. Maybe it's on their side.

I will keep you updated.

I am getting the same issue on my site. I have raised a bug
http://www.concrete5.org/developers/bugs/5-7-4-1/activating-a-theme...

I think it is down to the server setup, and the way it handles CSRF protection and URL encoding.

May be worth jumping onto the bug post and add your thoughts.

I'm having this problem too, any luck solving it?

Test build, using fresh install of 5.7.4.1 on Windows 8.1 with Microsoft WebMatrix creating the localhost PHP environment.
