ugly fonts in Chrome

I just installed my first Concrete5 site. It is a completely default vanilla install, but the first thing I noticed was that the heading fonts look terrible.

They actually look great in IE10, but in Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m (on Win7 64), they are pixelated and not anti-aliased.

Changing to the theme seemed to improve the situation, but now I can't work out how to go back to the original theme. I'm pretty sure I never confirmed/published the theme change.
