Unable to Connect to Community with ver 5.6.0.2

I have one site on Concrete ver 5.5 and another on concrete ver 5.6. On the 5.5 site I was able to connect my site to the community but not on the 5.6 site. Is this a bug?

On 5.5 site, I was in site edit mode and in the "Add Block" dialogue I scrolled to the bottom and clicked the green button labelled "More Add-ons". This prompted me to connect my site to the community by logging in with my concrete5.org account. I did so. No problem. I'm now connected.

On 5.6 site I did the exact same thing and I get the error message "You must login with a username that is an owner or editor of this project."

What does that mean? How does concrete 5 determine whether or not I am an owner or editor of this project?

This is surprisingly important actually because I need to update the theme because we updated concrete 5 to ver 5.6 (which might've been a mistake) and now the theme is completely out of whack. So things don't look right and the theme author said to update the theme to make things look right.

Well, since nobody in Google land seems to have instructions on updating a theme manually I would really like to be able to connect to the community to have the system do it for me. But if I don't get this resolved soon I will have no choice but to start overriding theme files on my server and I am just afraid that's going to cause even more problems.
