Unable to upgrade from Concrete5.4.0 or view sitemap

I've inherited a site currently running on Concrete5.4.0. When I attempt to view the site map, I receive a "Page Not Found" error. I understand that a newer version exists, but when I click on the link to download, I receive the following error: The following errors occurred when attempting to process your request:
The directory /home/ciwea0/public_html/updates does not exist.
I'm guessing that an update to the current version would resolve my sitemap issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can do this either by FTP to your site, or through your hosts file manager.
If it isn't there (in 'public_html'), create the folder 'updates' and try updating again.
