We get this message after trying to update from the dashboard, how can we get our site up running again?

Just found out through another thread that if you go to root > config > site.php and delete the line
<?php define('DIRNAME_APP_UPDATED', 'concrete5.6.3.2');?>
then my site was up running again, but with all this problem i don't think i dare update concrete5 anymore.
