updating software?

Hello,
again I am no web developer and I have been finally able to update a lot of the pages on the website that the original web developer relinquished all of his duties on and now it is up to me to try and figure out how to update the software that should have been updated while he was being paid to update and maintain the website! If I understand correctly there have been over 12 updates since our website was built!! I am running 5.4.0.5 and I need to update to the 5.4.2.2 in order to be able to edit pictures I am afraid to update because since I don't know much about web developing and I see and read the stories of HELP after updating I am afraid I would not be able to figure out how to fix any errors can someone help me??

Thanks

Whatever you do, make a backup first. It won't stop mistakes and unforeseen issues, but at least you can recover the site afterwards.

Your site is a long way behind the current version of c5. Any upgrade will need to be made stepping through a number of versions. That far back, the upgrade process is not as safe as it is with more recent versions.

In your situation, I recommend hiring an expert to make a backup and upgrade the site for you (but not me, I don't have time and have never worked with c5 that far back.)

Yes I see that how do I delete the 2nd thread? I do know that when I originally tried to post it was taking forever and would not download so I did repeat it because I didn't think it went through.

Thanks
Marissa

You can't delete it but you can edit to say something like "This post has been moved to another location"
