Upgrading from 5.4.2.2 to 5.5.2 - Toolbar Buttons Disappear

Hi, all.

I know these are older versions, but I'm upgrading a site from 5.4.2.2 to 5.5.2.

Once I performed the upgrade, I lost the buttons in the toolbar the top of the page. No Dashboard, no Sign In/Out, no Add Page or Edit Page.

I can still access the Dashboard by entering the Dashboard URL into my browser's address bar, but that's it.

I'm using the Simple Blue theme and my site uses advanced permissions.

I also am suddenly not allowed to search the users.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what's going on?

I'm also unable to access the Page Type defaults, if that information helps.

Normally a JavaScript error causes the toolbar not to show. Check your theme, remove any JavaScript from the header and try again.
If it only happens on the home page then it could be a block not compatible.

So now, I'm seeing the c5 logo centered at the top of the page just below the toolbar, with a bit of navigation information below it (see attached image).

It seems like the sections are there, but not visible or something, though this is more than I was seeing yesterday.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ed. I'll take a look into the theme files and see what's going on.

So I was unable to get anything working properly with the site in version 5.5.2, and I attempted to reverse the process and return the site to the 5.4.2.2 version.

My Add/Edit Page buttons are back, as is the Dashboard button. However, there is a new problem. The Dashboard seems to have kept many of the settings from 5.5.2. It has merged the "System & Maintenance" and "Sitewide Settings" pages into a single "System & Settings" page, and when I attempt to open this page, I receive a "Page Not Found" message. See the attached image.

As a result, I have lost access to a lot of the Dashboard functionality.

Has anyone ever experienced this, or am I breaking new ground here?

I wonder if you are having the same issue as this: http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/edit-bar1/#741412...

Go back to using the 5.5.2 files, attempting to use C5 v4 files with a v5 database is only going to cause you more problems.

Further update:

I've returned the site to the 5.5.2 version, as rolling back to 5.4.2.2 left me with a broken Dashboard. I am still experiencing the issue with the toolbar. The only time I can see toolbar content is when I am in the Dashboard, which I have to access via URL.

I don't think this is a theme issue because the toolbar is missing even when I use the default theme.

It looks like the bg_header.png image is hiding all the toolbar buttons. When I inspect the toolbar in my browser and uncheck the background checkbox in the div#ccm-toolbar section, I can see where the toolbar buttons would be.

I went into the appropriate .css file and removed the background image, and the sections where those buttons would be displayed, but they were not clickable. Please see the attached screenshot.

I seem to have two ccm-page-controls-wrapper sections appearing when I inspect the page. One contains an empty "toolbar" div while the other contains all the actual navigation (page controls, system nav wrapper, main nav).

Any ideas on what might have caused that or how to fix it?

Thanks, all.
