Upgrading to Concrete5.4.2.2 from 5.4.0.5

I need to update my Concrete server from 5.4.0.5 to 5.4.2.2 and when I try to download the new version, the following error pops up:

The directory /var/www/vhosts/cwoutfitting.com/httpdocs/updates must be writable by the web server.

What do I need to do to get the latest version?

What are you using to manage your file system permissions? FTP client? Hosting control panel? ...

I have no idea, I'm not the one who set up the website, I'm taking on the task of keeping our website updated, and I haven't had any contact with the person who set it up. I also don't have much website experience.

But, if it helps, under "Sitewide Settings: Access" The "Site Content Permissions" box says: "Your Concrete site does not use the simple permissions model. You must change your permissions for each specific page and content area."

Do you know where is your site hosted from? You will need account information to access the server where your site is hosted.

Yes, I will email them to get the account info. What then?

Then you need to use a file system client to change the permissions on the /updates folder to 755.

If you use an FTP client like FileZilla (free download here:http://filezilla-project.org/),... you'll need the host address or host name, your acount login name, and password. Once you connect to it, you'll see the files and folders there. Right click on the /uploads folder and select "File permissions..."

If your web host has a configuration dashboard like CPanel or Plesk that you can log into, then you should find a file manager tool there that will let you set permissions on your web site's file system.

Ok, I'll do all that when I get a response from my host site on account info. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it very much.
