Very Basic Add Page Simply Not Available

Very frustrated!

I can find no way to Add Page. It isn't available either on the Concrete menu Bar or in Dashboard/Sitemap. I've looked at the video on Add Page and I don't have a menu bar that provides this facility. I just have the Edit button on the left and Dashboard on the right.

I can Add a sub page but not Add a new page

I can't move a sub page from one menu item to another

I am the only user and am the admin.

Please... can someone give me definitive instructions to move past this very basic roadblock. Thanks in advance

I guess you have to create subpages from home because you need one "main-node" on the sitemap.

To watch your complete sitemap simply navigate to Dashboard -> Sitemap -> Full Sitemap

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond.

However, it doesn't really help, so far as I can see. I am not sure I know what a sub-mode is and I shouldn't have to know. A basic requirement for any website is that you can add pages. This I can't do. Sure, I can add a sub-page, but how do add pages under a new menu item?

Why can't I see the same Concrete menu as shown in the video? All, I have done is use the BitNami installer and started Concrete5. I get a website which I am then assured is 'easy' to change to whatever I like. But here I am, stuck at Step 1.

This is all very confusing for a newbie.

I am an experienced HTML/CSS3 coder and reasonably capable with Javascript and have built several sites by hand, so when I say 'newbie' I mean I am new to Concrete5.

Thanks again for responding.

Hey there.

If you are not seeing the Edit button top right on your page you have to enable the Advanced Permissions.

To do that, simply add
<?php define('PERMISSIONS_MODEL', 'advanced'); ?>

to your "config/site.php" file as shown here:
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/installation/installing_conc...

Never the less, you could use Home as First node, adding sub-pages corresponding to your menu pages and then add subpages to those.

But, to be honest, I'm new to C5 too, and I not yet reached this point of my development. (Speaking of implementing the actual pages, their stucture and a menu)

Ok..

Any page you add to concrete5 is still called a 'Sub Page'.

Adding another page to your site (to appear as part of the main nav) is technically a sub page to your home-page.

Go to your homepage-> hover over 'Edit' and select 'add a new Sub Page' -> 'Publish' your new 'Sub Page'.

I have the same problem, I dont have an add page option only edit page and under that a "Add Sub Page" option, I have spent hours trying to resolve the problem without success. I have read endless stuff on the forums but still no luck. I have now discovered that I have to add the new page as a sub page! Kinda crazy and very confusing. What was the big deal with having an add page option separate to the add sub page, as for putting it under the edit page option, why would you look under edit page to add a new page!

Also if you are going to bring out a new menu wouldnt it make sense to update the tuitorials as well, they all still show the Add page button being next to the Edit Page button!

To be honest I was looking for an option to Wordpress but I'm not sure that Concrete5 is it!

Yeah.. I'm kinda disappointed too right now.

There's no single place where you can get a step by step tutorial on:

(1) how to upload C5 to your own host and get it running. If you've tried the BitNami route you'll have found this is far from easy. In fact I tried 3 times to make it work, and resorted to unpacking the C5 download and ftp'ing it to my host.

(2) once you have it running, how to add your own pages from an existing site and make the necessary changes to get it running. It would be rally great to be able to add a page you've got working on your site to the C5 environment and see it appear. That would be very encouraging. Well, good luck as a newbie with that.

(3) the Add Pages feature - a very basic requirement - is entirely confusing. I was expecting that IF I wanted to add a page within the About section, for example, and have it appear in a drop down menu under About I would Add sub page... but as you will have discovered the sub-pages you add appear on the site map but can't be accessed (seemingly) unless you type in the actual page address to the URL box on your browser.

I've had to turn C5 off and do something else so I can come back to it with a fresh mind. I'm going to give it one last go.

This might be a stupid question, but you tried adding from the full sitemap located at Dashboard > Full Sitemap, right? (see attachment)

Hi @letterman, every page you create is a sub page of "home" home is the top of the tree, if you wish to create a page that appears on your top level navigation, you need to " add sub page" while you are on the homepage, if you wish to add a page for example to an "about us" page you have created, go to that page and " add sub page" every page you add is going to be a sub page of another page in some way, that's why it's labeled like it is.

The documentation has been updated, if you look under the drop down menu, there is an editors guide for 5.5 and above, it's on the main navigation of this site.

But can be found herehttp://www.concrete5.org/documentation/using-concrete5/...

The C5 Documentation is a great place for answers as is the forum. Check this article for what you are searching.

Let me add this for better clarification....if you click on the link that brings you to your main pagehttp://www.mydomain.com....Then you click on the Edit button at the top left of the page. Then click on Add Sub Page. Select layout, Fill in the information for the name of the page and the menu link name. Once it puts the page up...click on Add to main and select Add Block....choose Content. Fill in your content with what you need and Save. Then on the Edit button at the top left corner, click on Publish my edits. You will now see the new page appear in the navigation menu as a main page not a sub page.
