What is going on?! - Need help urgently.

Ok so after deciding that Joomla is absolute rubbish and turning to concrete 5 everything was going well...

But I've ran into a problem.

- My site is extremely slow.
- Sometimes my site does not even load and I get a 500 internal server error.
- Mozilla Firefox displays my site all messed up with a grey background?

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure or change your database to your localhost. Godaddy's default is to put your db on a separate server and the communication lag multiplies.

I am having this same issue with GoDaddy. Can I just change the Hostname to "localhost" and that should work?

GoDaddy Mysql servers are on a different machine than the one your site is hosted on, using localhost won't work. You need to have the path to the Mysql server in site.php.

I find there is no way around poor performance with C5 when you are in this type of environment. Things work much better with a Cpanel configuration where the db is on the same machine as your site.

The solution is to switch hosting companies, I like hostgator.com

Godaddy also has an option for a local machine database and its not nearly as slow as the external solution. They can set that up for you.
