I just unzipped c5 into my public_html folder. so there's an index.php and a folder "concrete" in the root directory. is the latter the "subdirectory" for the site even though that concrete basically is installed in the root (public_html) directory? …

can't get past install page

No config file, but tables created

I tried to install C5 on IIS (don't ask me why). It worked fine but I had to realize that setting chmod through ftp doesn't work... I therefore didn't had the right directory permissions which is why c5 couldn't create my config file. No problem so far…
