Country Code Database

Hi!
In one of my projects i need a list of country codes and country names in different languages. since i could not find those data in c5 i was asking myself if anyone else could need those data?!
on the one hand it might be usefull to put those stuff into language files - on the other hand limited to country names in that case. so i am thinking about a package which is basically offering a db-table including infos about countries like country codes, geolocations and translations. focus is on the data itself since functionality could be too various.
so... maybe a package would be nice. on the other hand some packages are also using country lists (for example ecommerce), so the question is wether it could make sense to get those stuff into the core database!?
what do you think guys?

Maybe /concrete/helpers/lists/ (off the top of my head, have not checked the path)
Thanks for your reply. I could find those stuff in helpers/lists/countries.php - but of course the infos are only in english.
