Can't edit pages in site map - loading icon goes forever until you log out

I am trying to edit and delete some old pages from the 'full sitemap' but when I press 'save' the loading icon spins nonstop until it logs you out and nothing is saved. This has left me unable to delete pages, edit URLs, etc.

Does anyone how we can fix this? Unfortunately the person that was paid to design the website is completely out of touch now

Have a look at your web browser developer console and see if any errors are shown.
