Associated previous bought themes not showing on new 8.2.1 site

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi All,

Having a bit of a issue with installing themes bought earlier on my new 8.2.1 site.

I associated it fine on the project page, but nothing is appearing for install etc

Am I doing something odd?

Thanks for any assistance.

Cheers

Could you double check it is associated with the correct project?

Were they 5.6 themes?

Hmmm, this could be the issue. So, should I presume that once a new version is released, that the theme creators need to update their packages for the new versions?

So if, in this instance, I have purchased the Avenir theme a year ago, but never used it and 3 new C5 versions have been released then I would not be able to associate and release THAT theme I purchased? If so, that is really annoying, and costly.

The marketplace and theme compatibility split with the release of c5.7.
A 5.6 theme will not work later and cannot be updated for later.
A 5,7 theme will not work earlier.

If you purchased before 5.7, the themes can only be used on a 5.6 site.
If you purchased after 5.7, but from the 'legacy' 5.6 marketplace, again, the themes can only be used on a 5.6 site.

Avenir is a 5.6 theme and you probably made the mistake of purchasing from the 5.6 marketplace.

The marketplace split with the release of 5.7, so about 3 years ago.

If you had realised the mistake soon after, then you could have applied for a refund. But now, as you say, its a costly mistake.

No, I bought it 12-18 months ago or so, but not associated to a project. It is now money down the drain which is unfortunate.

So thank you. Your answer confirms my suspicion.
