Home page stalling

Hello again people. I was going to make some changes on the website I am working on, and now the homepage is not working (all other pages work). The only thing I have done was to add a complex blockquote to the css file and try to link to it using html view in the text editors html view.

Cannot see how this could be a problem though. The page loaded fine at work, but the block-quote did not work. Now it stalls at loading the nivoslider slide show (the same slideshow loads fine on all other pages in the site).

Update: One of my clients told me it happened after she tried to add an image in the content area

Howdy,

your site loads for me, including the home page and the nivo slider, but it takes quite a long time to load, perhaps a minute or more.

I think much of the problem comes from the size of some of the files - just to load the homepage took 3.1MB of download. For your site it should be no more than half a meg I reckon, less really.

If you are using Chrome, use Tools->Developer Tools and then the Network tab to see the sizes of the files it downloads. The main culprit is the background image bk_sand.png which is 1.1MB. You should be able to simply crop that image to be very thin (since it repeats) and re-save it to make it a fraction of that. Your four slider images are quite large too, and I'm sure you'd be able to recompress them to smaller filesizes without it affecting the quality.

Great logo by the way!
