Installing stucco theme

Hi,
I tried to install another theme from the marketplace called Stucco (free)

First of all I had to install it manually, don't know why but trying to download it just gives an error with no code: "Cant download the package".

Secondly, I finally installed the theme and tried to put it on the site so I went to install it first. Then I go to design and select the theme. When I apply this I get another page with a bunch of PHP errors. I don't know what to do. When I go back the Elemental theme is still selected.
Anybody has a clue? I have been on C5 for 1 day.

Greets,

Max

This is probably a silly question, but you have a 5.7 install and the 5.7 Stucco package, right?

I have downloaded C5 8.0 since I just started to learn it. Also I downloaded the latest version of stucco. I understand the problem now. Would you recommend using 8.0 or 5.7?

use version 5.7!

in 5.8.0 the theme crashes unless you update the controller file in the theme. stucco installs thumbnails programmatically.

I would have to agree for now, if you are building a site that is to go live in the next couple months I would use the latest stable 5.7.

5.8 was just released and still has some bugs. The packages in the marketplace probably haven't been updated to be compatible either since the developers don't get a list of things that were changed between versions it takes some time to get things updated.

You could certainly report your results to the developer of the theme though to let them know that you had 5.8 issues, your errors might give them a jump start on getting the theme updated.
