Use 5.6.x theme in 5.7.x?

I'm very new to Concrete5. I went away from it for a few months and now 5.7 is out.

My question is: Can I use a theme from Marketplace designed for 5.6 in my new 5.7 installation? I imagine it will not use the new features in 5.7, but will the theme function properly?

Thanks in advance for any help. I spent some time searching the forum but didn't find an answer to this.

No. Any theme or addon from 5.6 won't work on 5.7 without modification. For some blocks that is trivial. Generally there is a fair bit of work involved and there could be some redesign to make it fit with the way 5,7 does stuff.

Thanks John - I was afraid that was the answer. I'll spend some time with 5.7 and see how far I get. Some of the add-ons I had used in my earlier explorations are not yet available in the new version. Not sure how much time I can wait or how much time I can spend looking for other 5.7 tools.

Ive had success moving the theme itself out of the package and into the theme folder. Some of the code may need tweaking but it works.
