Advanced Permissions are ignored for Areas - Add Layout, Design, Set Permissions, Add Block Types

I have version 5.6.3.1 installed where Advanced Permissions were recently turned on. I have two groups - "Power Users" and "Editors".

On the home page, there is an area labeled "Feature Slides". For this area, I do not want users from either of the groups listed above to be able to add a layout, modify the design or set permissions, and I want to restrict the type of block that can be added. For the page type default, I have set permissions on the area as follows:
- Add Block to Area: Editors - Custom - Feature Slides
- Edit Area Contents: Editors
- Add Block to Area: Editors
- Delete Area Contents: Editors

When I click the area (logged in as a user in the "Editors" group), the following options appear (which should not):
- Add Layout
- Design
- Set Permissions

I have even tried excluding the "Editors" group from those 3 permission groups and they still appear.

Regarding the block types that can be added, all block types are visible for the user in the "Editors" group (i.e., it's not working as configured).

Can anyone help shed some light on what I am doing wrong? Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Perhaps I have misunderstood the fundamental concept of page and page type permissions. Based on the threads below, it looks like you cannot have manual or tree page permissions and have page type *area* permissions trickle down. Is this still correct?
