advanced permissions

I plugged in the code for advanced permissions and I can no longer edit, move or add to my content. I changed the code back to "simple" permissions and now the site seems to be in edit mode. When I click on my site, it pops up like I went to the sitewide settings and put it in edit mode where only the dashboard is accessible and it is no longer viewable to the public. How can I change this back and get my site editable and back on line? HELP!! I STILL HAVE SIX MORE TO BUILD!!!!!

take a deep breath, you're using too many exclamation points, you're probably causing more harm than good. ;)

A couple of thoughts
1) there will likely be some punkyness when you turn on advanced permissions on a site that didn't have them before. It's got to make a bunch of assumptions and it may not be getting/setting everything right.

2) the "admin" account you get when you first setup the c5 site is what you should to do manage this process. that account has hardcoded access built into it that users in the admin group don't get.

3) once you've turned on advanced permissions, LOGOUT and log back in. That's probably a good step on any of these big changes.

4) go to a page that is giving you trouble, hit permissions up top. this should give you the permissions matrix for that whole page. Make sure guests, registered users, and admins can all read the page. admins should be able to do the rest of what's up there too (including approve)

5) if you can click the edit button, but no areas actually seem editable, that means the permissions for your block areas are probably defined wrong. Goto the page defaults section in page types, click the block areas from there (if you're logged in as admin you should be able to get to em). see what the permissions are for each area as that's probably what's causing the trouble.

does any of this help?
